Cactus & Succulent Society of Queensland Inc

For all you serious green thumbs out there.

ABOUT US

CELEBRATING

60

The Cactus and Succulent Society of Queensland Inc. was formed in February 1963 when Dr Vic Murray and fourteen like-minded individuals met at his home for the first meeting of the Queensland Succulent Society.

Queensland state law forbade the sale of cacti back in those days so they could only be purchased at fellow grower’s home during collection visits.

The law restricting cacti in Queensland was not changed until 1991 which allowed the society to sell them at their first annual show.

In 1992, the society was renamed to the Cactus and Succulent Society of Queensland Inc.

Being able to talk to other local members who have decades of experience whenever I have issues has been really helpful.

Ben

I’ve been able to source plants from other members that I would never find in a local nursery.

Kenny

Joining CSSQ has helped me to increase my knowledge of these amazing plants and allowed me to meet many wonderful people who share my appreciation for succulents and cacti.
